PostDoc Dynamics of cancer immune ecosystems and oncolytic virotherapy (f/m/diverse)

In this science-focused position, you will set up a 3D immune cell tracking method to i. elicit the dynamics of human cancer immune ecosystems and ii. evaluate early cancer immune modulatory anti-cancer research concepts e.g. oncolytic viruses.

Your role:

  • Set-up of 3D live cell microscopy to monitor the interplay of distinct immune cell subsets within human tumor ex vivo systems
  • Complement the development of human ex vivo based assays to test and design novel concepts in cancer immunotherapy (including project planning, evaluation and documentation)
  • Set-up and implement computational and statistical tools to track and quantify immune cell subsets
  • Perform cutting edge research with a focus on translation within a global pharmaceutical company
  • Interact and communicate within a highly dynamic research network including partners from academia, industry (including presentations of the project work at scientific conferences)

Your ideal qualification:

  • Biologist (PhD) with a profound expertise and scientific curiosity in human cancer immunology and/or cell biology
  • In depth knowledge and hands-on experience in basic and advanced microscopy techniques
  • Experience in cell tracking and/or immuno-assays is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of cancer immunotherapy to foster translation of novel virus based anti-cancer therapeutics
  • Excellent interpersonal and clear communication skills to integrate in a multi-disciplinary, lively and flexible team
  • Evidence of scientific rigor and excellence as documented by peer-reviewed publications
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written; German language skills would be highly appreciated (otherwise willingness to learn German)
